5 Signs You Need To Change Your Lash Artist (UPDATED)

A few years ago we made a post about when to switch lash technicians. It was a hit, so many our readers thanked us for the heads up and now are with their forever lash artists! We wanted to REVAMP our former story. Times have changed, so should your lash artist!

Here are 5 signs that you NEED to switch Lash Artists:

1) IT’S UNCOMFORTABLE - You just have a funny feeling everytime you come in for your appointment. It could be the conversations you are having, maybe they're inappropriate. The space can also make you feel uncomfortable if it's too crowded or cramped. Generally speaking if you have any uneasiness please remove yourself from that situation. You don't owe anything to that lash artist or studio.

2) The work feels mediocre - You know when something is half-assed and there's nothing worse than having a service done that was half-assed. I'm sure the lash artist meant well but in order to keep repeat clientele your lash technician should go above and beyond (realistically) every time for your appointment. If you paid for a full set you should be receiving a full set; an extension/fan on each and every lash you have! There should be no gaps, no random chunks missing, one eye more full than the other, rushed service, chatting too much etc etc.

3) IT'S NOT CLEAN - This is a big NO NO. When working around your eyes the implements used should be disposable or sanitized properly. If you are unsure...ASK. Let the artist show you, if they can't, that's a huge problem. Tweezers should be washed then left to soak in a sterilizing solution for 20 mins before EACH client. If the space or studio just seems like a mess what makes you think that where they store their glue/extensions isn't also a mess?

4) They Don't Take Responsibility - This one is a little tricky but important nonetheless. Your lash artist may have an excuse for everything such as being late for your appointment, scheduling you in wrong, charging you incorrectly, not having correct supplies etc. Everyone else is at fault except for them. It can be more frustrating when your lashes start looking differently as well, all of the sudden it's your eye/lashes that are the problem. There are moments when a lash technician cannot safely give you a certain look or style but they should always find an alternative.

5) DIFFICULT TO BOOK - We’re not talking about when a lash artist is booked because they are good at what they do, we mean when it is literally so difficult to physically book an appointment. Do they have a good booking system? Is there even online booking enabled? If you have to wait 2-3 days for a response to book an appointment please find a lash artist who will appreciate your business more.

Every technician is different so it may take a few to find your perfect one! Each technician also has different levels of training and retained knowledge. Ask questions and safe lashing!
